Much variety in knowledge mundane,

Worthwhile is it to retain?

Hundred years back most in farming,

Then more recent phone switch operating.

Through time one constant the same,

That shifts occurring, things always to change.

Transcendental knowledge of value to all,

Individual spirit and the source, Shri Krishna to call.

Land free of anxieties, as Vaikuntha known,

Of personal God Vishnu the home.

Of spiritual world somewhat aware,

But what the Supreme Lord doing there?

Visitor Bhrigu His patience testing,

Lakshmi giving massage while resting.

Demigods for help to His lotus feet coming,

Destination when souls liberated becoming.

To jivas minute independence giving,

In material world as purusha living.

Enjoyment of prakriti taking,

But still not the world itself making.

This to Supreme Enjoyer attributed alone,

Purushottama, as topmost person is known.

Purusha locally, different from nature inferior,

In truth coming from Krishna prakriti superior.

From poison on breasts smearing,

Path for Krishna’s death clearing.

Yet Putana falling, lifeless body a hideous sight,

Hopefully then to receive punishment right.

Eternally damned or into lower species thrown?

Actually by Supreme Lord greatest mercy shown.

Liberation since thinking of Him,

Cleared instantly of most grievous sin.

For supreme truth to know,

Advised to guru to go.

Suppose initiative in the task,

What to them should I ask?

Why threefold miseries upon me,

And in future will I continue to be?

Referencing shastra answers easily to give,

Guidance how in bliss of bhakti to live.

In Vaikuntha bliss of happiness to be,

So in that realm no fighting to see.

For sport to material world to descend,

Cutting down asuras’ playing God pretend.

Wrath of devastation to them sending,

Krishna their sinful ways ending.

Though inimical, liberation to them giving,

Superior are devotees who the same while living.

Married couple to divorce they might.

Such village talk gramya-katha to say,

By Chaitanya advised to stay away.

Through law of karma to see,

Same gossip and slander to me.

For higher purpose human life is meant,

In Hari-katha better the time to be spent.

For light of spiritual sun to see,

Person only surrendered need be.

Not having knowledge the highest,

Or resolve in austerity the strongest.

Knowledge may not even be there,

Of higher matters not aware.

Only when coming the light of the sun,

There to be darkness of ignorance none.

Since only trouble in this world to find,

Difficulty from senses, including the mind.

Visit to a Vishnu temple to make,

Vision of Divine in form to take.

Clean and with purity arrive,

To worship first at lotus feet try.

To Tulasi Devi and guru give respect,

Through their blessings place standing erect.

If with bhakti path by guru blessed,

Ways for progress then to assess.

Is urge for eating controlled?

Anger over you no longer a hold?

Propensity to lament decreased?

And attachment to guru increased?

Enthusiasm in bhakti on the rise,

Paradoxical, known to person who tries.
