To monkey companions returned.

Taking speaker’s seat on the ground,

Eager listeners gathered around.

He who in actions so bold,

Story of trip happily told.

With nectarean words quenching their thirst,

Gave possibly world’s Ramayana telling first.

Treatment of Hanuman not the proper way,

Vibhishana lone objection to say.

Though of species with visages grim,

All virtues existed in him.

On his behavior Hanuman a careful eye kept,

His home bypassed as across Lanka he leapt.

Your devotion Hanuman always sees,

Knows if desire you Shri Rama to please.

Though of knowledge and dispassion of a sage,

Hanuman still could fly into a rage.

Like when friends of Ravana he battered,

And fiery tail across Lanka scattered.

Towards leaders’ palaces devastation steered,

That world coming to end the residents feared.

Because of offense against Rama’s wife to dare,

Hanuman through Ravana’s city to tear.

That his fiery tail was now cool,

Knew she was responsible, Hanuman no fool.

After image of him paraded to take,

Amazing transformation she did make.

No pain his size then decreased,

From shackles Hanuman released.

With fiery tail jumping up and down,

Hanuman burned Lanka to the ground.

At Hanuman’s image her wounded heart to sink,

How to help him immediately to think.

On her favor with demigods she drew,

That they must listen to her she knew.

"Let the fire feel like ice," she prayed,

As her request, devas dutifully obeyed.

As Sita’s prayers never to fail,

No more pain from a fiery tail.

Because Brahma weapon never to fail,

Hanuman bound and fire on his tail.

With all good sense long since departed,

At Ravana’s command parade was started.

Hanuman with burning tail to show,

That he was conquered others to know.

But fire on tail just what Hanuman needed,

To burn down Lanka soon he proceeded.

At Vibhishana’s devotion got a look,

Impression of his character Hanuman took.

When ravishing fire later on all scared,

Palace of pious Vibhishana was spared.

Assessment of his character he made,

Handy later when Ravana farewell he bade.

Because Hanuman gave the okay,

With Rama’s camp Vibhishana could stay.

Enemy demons easily could kill,

But deference to Brahma shown still.

When great weapons towards him brought,

Hanuman allowed himself to be caught.

Fiends thought that ropes were strong,

But Hanuman not to be trapped for long.

Object of humiliation in assembly made,

Carefully watching, with him information stayed.

Before from Lanka departed,

Hostilities with Rakshasas started.

Weapons from enemies at him flew,

Uprooted trees at them he threw.

Beautiful with blood on his breast,

Great fun for Rama’s servant the best.

Though in attitude always humble,

Against enemies not afraid to rumble.

Before leaving Lanka site,

Hanuman spoiling for a fight.

Before taking action so bold,

Of army of monkeys he told.

Less capable first go to feel,

Then returns with full army real.

For Hanuman certainly not true,

But find full humility in him will you.
