With Sugriva the deal was made,

Army to work after Rama skill displayed.

Rival brother Vali to shoot in the back,

Then to start on Lanka’s plan of attack.

Supreme Lord His part of bargain upheld,

But Sugriva forgetting after Vali felled.

Lakshmana there in anger to remind,

Help needed for mission Sita to find.

Rama when having vengeance in mind,

Saved by accompanying brother so kind.

Wise wisdom from elder first heard,

Repeating in situation every word.

For glories of Raghu’s sun to know,

To character of Lakshmana just go.

Take one and always getting the other,

So endearing is that younger brother.

Incarnation of Divine Vedas to state,

One way to know Rama just how great.

At those serving Him just see,

How pious, and of ignorance free.

Dedicated, of personal concern not a care,

Like Hanuman bravely over ocean to dare.

Sita torture from Rakshasis accepting,

Rescue from husband soon expecting.

Unfair, pious Sita now in sorrow,

Time standing still, never to come tomorrow.

But death on the horizon still,

Soon arrows the air to fill.

Weight of sin for Ravana too much,

Soon on Lanka’s shore Hanuman to touch.

All part of Shri Rama’s divine plan,

Brave messenger area first to scan.

When Ravana to Lanka Sita taking,

Jatayu greatest sacrifice making.

Battle ensuing in the air,

To stop fiend from leaving there.

Despite following what is right,

Not enough to overcome his might.

Failure never in devotion to be,

At time of death Rama’s face to see.

Dying while Sita trying to save,

Rama to him best benediction gave.

While sun on Jatayu’s life setting,

Direct vision of Supreme Lord getting.

Lord rewarding gesture large and small,

Not assessing stature short or tall.

Just keep His beautiful vision in mind,

As death approaches, most important time.

For long Supreme Lord forgotten,

Lost through material opulence begotten.

Shri Rama compassionate the most is there,

Since of tendency keenly aware.

Possible even when by His side,

Like with Sugriva again as king to preside.

With such a Lord this heart always to stay,

To never forget again sincerely to pray.

Comfortably back on throne set,

Sugriva how he got there to forget.

Lost in material opulence’s swoon,

Not realizing time dwindling soon.

Rama quiet for His part,

From kind demeanor not to depart.

Easy by illusion the intelligence goes,

Supreme Lord this tendency knows.

Ravana took Sita away,

Only after first failure’s way.

When so many night-rangers to forest came,

All fighting with ill purpose the same.

To brother Lakshmana order gave,

To take Sita to nearby cave.

Rama this battle to fight alone,

Most splendid exhibition shown.

When sister crying to Ravana went,

King then fourteen thousand soldiers sent.

All to attack man one,

For killing purpose done.

But Rama all by Himself defended,

On Rakshasas arrows shower descended.

Supreme Lord capable of even more fighting,

From His victory the pious delighting.
