For Sita – 18

Certainly most fortunate am I,

For without travel or hard to try,

Beloved of Rama’s name I have found,

As a child so happily did sound.

Must be only from ancestors’ might,

In worship of Hari on path always right.

Like Janaka on the road of virtue stay,

And soon greatest fortune to come your way.

For Sita – 17

Not far you have to go,

For aim of life to know.

Example of King Janaka just see,

Worked with attachment and aversion free.

Just by keeping mind of righteousness sound,

Ultimate purpose emerged from the ground.

Protection to daughter Sita of vision so bright,

To this fool may her name give rescuing light.

For Sita – 16

In oddest way she was found,

By father while ploughing the ground.

In tending to field effort you make,

So that resulting harvest to take.

For devotion without motive, pure,

Reward of God’s association is sure.

With that bundle of joy, most valuable treasure,

In devotion Janaka offered care without measure.

For Sita – 15

Care determined not only from objects to give,

Also in righteousness let the dependents live.

Love for child than Janaka’s cannot be more,

With utmost attention daughter Sita to adore.

Still, along the pious path he taught,

Learned brahmanas to kingdom he brought.

Not that she these lessons to need,

But best example by father to lead.

For Sita – 14

Though so many kindly show other way,

Only your name I most prefer to say.

When in trouble rescue through a thought,

Of how much joy to King Janaka you brought.

At time of death of God to think,

So no more in samsara’s ocean to sink.

But rather I think of you, is that okay?

Our secret, not to others to say.

For Sita – 13

Girl in whom not a blemish in sight,

Janaka a father for her most certainly right.

Finding her in field suddenly by chance,

Through her actions his fame to enhance.

A beautiful vision ever so rare,

Janaka and wife raised with utmost care.

Rama’s beloved of so many names to address,

Tied to father, to me Janaki seems best.

For Sita – 12

“For sacrifice in using my plow,

To this field this girl came how?

In her beauty and grace to find all,

How now as my daughter I can call?”

That king who by righteousness always led,

From above the celestials his mind read.

Voice in the sky to allay his fear,

To care for her now his path was clear.

For Sita – 11

Finding baby in that oddest of place,

Janaka carefully brushed dust off her face.

Though living with dispassion instilled,

By her vision his heart with affection was filled.

Dilemma over whether right to give attention and care,

So suddenly a voice in the sky appeared there.

In all righteousness his daughter she was,

Brings joy to the heart this story it does.

For Sita – 10

Fixed in his dispassion, king never shook,

Changed when baby in his arms he took.

Immediate was there in him affection,

Thought of how to give her protection.

No longer stoic, but that was just fine,

Fitting for devotee of pure heart and mind.

Removing the dust from her face,

In his heart Sita took her place.

For Sita – 9

This child was his in righteousness all,

Thus his daughter now Janaka could call.

This a voice from the sky confirmed,

Then happily king to home returned.

Sacrifice for God, motive there was not,

King rewarded with beautiful daughter he got.

Soon that girl Supreme Lord to bring,

Of her glories may I always sing.
