From vipra’s request king’s heart did sink,

Follow virtue or keep Rama, couldn’t think.

The distressed condition of king he could tell,

Vashishtha stepped in for doubts to dispel.

As brahmana, Vishvamitra’s opinion right,

And Shri Rama, though young of great might.

Mahadeva daughter of mountain king to marry,

To the woods vow for austerity she did carry.

Sita Devi meant to wed Rama in the same way,

Vashishtha’s words to make real fateful day.

King of Ayodhya really stuck in a bind,

Way out of rock and hard place couldn’t find.

To protect the truth was his vow,

But part with son Rama could he how?

“I need Rama” lord of munis did say,

To drive the likes of Maricha away.

Dasharatha did not know what to do,

Agreed in end, love for Rama to stay true.

In bhakti no fault with following the mind,

Because even by thinking of God love to find.

Four fruits of existence brahmanas give,

So that pursuing proper path you can live.

Follow dharma to get economic development,

Satisfy senses and hope rebirth to circumvent.

King meeting Vishvamitra felt hesitant,

For vipra can provide of desires attainment.

What possibly could king give in return,

Nothing of equal value was cause for concern.

King’s eldest son Rama of existence its source,

Chanting His name is life’s proper course.

To part with his son king did finally agree,

From Vishvamitra’s request, sages God to see.

Person works hard for a reason, not easily to quit,

So that in the end some success, tangible profit.

For the ruling king, the duties are increased,

With influence many people are reached.

Success or failure in tasks nice to know,

For from it dedication to virtue can grow.

King Dasharatha fortunate for Vishvamitra to meet,

Validated work through seeing sage’s pure lotus feet.

The two’s love for eldest son Rama mind should note,

Devotee’s mental company acts as rescue boat.

Images seen into your consciousness they sink,

Repeatedly then of them you can think.

Keep association of objects bearing sweetness,

So that mind will remember and find happiness.

The muni Vishvamitra saw Rama and was amazed,

Upon such a beautiful form he repeatedly gazed.

Countless spiritual merits, what did the king do,

To deserve such a son, kind, sweet and charming too.

No matter, the muni would get to take Rama with him,

Eventually to Sita, Rama her hand to win.

Not in an endless sea of sorrow did he drown,

Rather pool of joy’s nectar through Rama found.

Comparisons help us God to understand,

Thus like a lotus flower was Shri Rama’s hand.

Reward for austerity in the forest,

Muni brought lovable prince to his chest.

Royal order to provide protection meant,

Thus Rama and Lakshmana with muni king sent.

That delight of Raghu dynasty incarnates through name,

So chant it regularly to acquire highest gain.

To measure in an object its beauty’s might,

See the response coming from first sight.

Enchantment from beautiful object immediate,

In onlookers noted response always elicit.

For famous sage through his body a thrill,

Loving tears in his eyes vision did fill.

Rama and His brothers so kind and sweet,

Offered obeisances to sage’s lotus feet.

Follow devotion for divine presence to feel,

Eternal enchantment is Shri Rama’s appeal.

Careful seed in the tender ground to sow,

Water it so that tall it will grow.

The kalpa tree is the best of them all,

Provides benedictions to one and all.

Give pure nectar to creeper to grow fast,

Will then provide tastiest fruits that last.

This comparison used to describe meeting,

Muni king’s wives and sons joyfully greeting.

Son of Gadhi gave them his blessing in return,

Permanent spot in Ramayana history him did it earn.
